Tree removal
Dangerous, damaged, or just in the way? We take it down and leave the yard clean.
Taking a tree down is sometimes a sad job, and often a needed one.
We look at the tree first and work out how to get it down safely. Big tree or tight spot, we bring the gear for it. We do hazardous trees, storm damage, selective clearing and lot clearing.
Before we say take it down, we check whether the tree can be kept with some care. If it can, we tell you. If it cannot, we are fully set up to remove it.
Cleanup is standard. We also offer limited or no cleanup to cut time on site and lower the price. The wood can be chipped into mulch, hauled off, or cut into firewood. Want the stump gone too? Add grinding.
What we do
- Remove hazardous and hard-to-reach trees
- Clear brush
- Haul wood
- Clean up storm damage (see hazardous and emergency)
Serving Columbia, Washington, Multnomah and Clackamas counties. The estimate is free.

Common questions
How much does it cost to remove a tree in Columbia County?
Typically $300–$2,500. Size, location, condition and access move the number. We price every job after seeing it, and the estimate is free.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Portland?
Often, yes. In Portland a permit is generally required for a private tree 12 inches across or bigger (measured 4.5 feet up), smaller trees in some overlay zones, and always for street trees. See the City of Portland pages on do I need a tree permit and removal and replanting permits.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree outside Portland?
It depends on the city and the tree. Gresham regulates trees 8 inches across or larger and needs a permit for street trees (Gresham trees). Oregon City mostly leaves private trees on residential lots alone, but street trees and trees in protected areas need one (Oregon City). Beaverton and Lake Oswego have their own tree codes (Beaverton, Lake Oswego planning). In unincorporated areas, check with the county: Clackamas, Washington, Multnomah.
Do you handle the permit, or do I?
Either. Often we handle the permit for you; we will tell you what your city needs when we come out.
How long does a tree removal take?
Most take a few hours to a full day, depending on the tree and the site.
Do you clean up and haul everything away?
Yes, cleanup is standard. We also offer limited or no cleanup to cut time on site and lower the price, and we can leave logs in any length you want. Wood can be chipped into mulch, hauled off, or cut to firewood lengths. Tell us what you want when we come out.
